My freshman year in high school, Mr. Weaver, my school counselor, would call me into his office from time to time. At first I thought I was in trouble because I didn’t understand his role. But he would ask me things like, “How are your classes going? How are YOU doing? Is there anything I can do to help you?” He was one of the very few adults who ever reached out to check on me during my high school years. Over 40 years later, I have still never forgotten his kindness and compassion. Thank you, Mr. Weaver, for being a mentor and my high school counselor! I am in my 34th year as an educator myself because of people like YOU. @monarchnation1 , as it is National Counselor Appreciation Week, don’t forget to reach out and give your counselor a fist bump… let them know they’re appreciated!! @euhscounselors @protectstudentsupport

If you are a coach (or athletic director) the best part of your job is watching these often awkward and squirrely freshmen turn into young men (and women) right before your eyes. 25-26 Monarch boys soccer is a special group of these young men. Last night, we honored 12 seniors, who played their last home match in Exeter. Steve Gudino Aguilar, Jesus Astorga Lara, Sergio Peña, Zachary Chism, Lucas Botello, Victor Susua, Aaron Garcia, Wilmert Cortes, Ben Jimenez, Jesus Avilez Aramburo, Hector Franco Sevilla, and Miguel Santiago Cruz… Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to Monarch Athletics. Coaches Pete Renteria, Jose Quintero, Armando Castillo, and Christyan Lara, thank you for being part of the “village“. #ForeverMonarch.
